In 1984, Nelson and Sarah Coblentz heeded God’s call on their life and formed the Gospel Express Evangelistic Team. A few close friends and supporters assisted them, and God surrounded them with a seven-member board of directors to bring guidance and fulfillment to their vision for evangelism through singing and preaching. The headquarters, originally in Lancaster County, PA, moved to Columbus, NC, in 2000.

The initial focus of Gospel Express was evangelistic ministry in prisons, churches and “Unto the least of these,”however God chooses. Gospel Express has since expanded to include community tent crusades, support chaplaincy programs, comprehensive Bible study correspondence courses, and a New Testament ministry to prisoners in the U.S. and Canada. Further facets of the ministry include a daily radio commentary, a recording ministry and in 1997 an international ministry to the African countries of Ghana, Uganda and Kenya.

Gospel Express is a nonprofit 501-C3 faith-based ministry and is funded by private donations.

Prison Crusades

Prison Crusade Weekends have an evangelistic focus. They include focused “seed planting” interaction between volunteers and inmates through fellowship in dorms, on the recreation yard, in confinement and in cafeteria areas. As mainstream culture continues to turn away from God, the brokenness is reflected in a prison system that is overflowing with emotional and spiritual devastation. These weekends give evangelists, family teams, and volunteers the opportunity to bring hope to the devastated, as the Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed.

Prison Crusade Volunteers Needed!

December 1st-5th, 2010 ~ Marianna, FL

December 9th-13th, 2011 ~ Camden/Columbia/Abbeville, SC

*Necessary orientation and training is given prior to entrance to the prison.

Gospel Express has long term opportunities available, whether you want to work in the office, partner with a ministry team or work in prisons there is a place for you to serve.

Looking to serve the Lord in the office? There are various VS and full-time opportunities available upon God leading our current office staff to other areas of life. VS opportunities include secretarial positions in accounting, prison ministry, Bible study course ministry and the recording ministry.

Do you desire to be spiritually challenged? Gospel Express offers several different short term mission opportunities that prove be encouraging, refreshing and challenging. These include ministering in prison and international trips.

Become involved in a weekend of prison ministry! We are always looking for new volunteers to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Florida and South Carolina prisons.

Crusade

If you are interested in being apart of a prison crusade call the office for an application (828) 859-7003. Numerous mission trips are being taken throughout the year, ministering to Ghana, Uganda and Kenya, Africa. These mission trips focus on the medical and spiritual needs of the people through daytime medical clinics and evening village evangelistic services.
